The Modern Journalist NING social network is comprised of people who are interested in the disruptive technologies changing the way we think about news, media and society. That doesn’t just mean newspapers and magazines. It means everyone.

If you’ve been involved with one of these before, you know the netiquette. If you’re new. Feel free to say hello. Introduce yourself and then take some time to read and follow what’s happening. And just because it’s email doesn’t mean you should be hostile.

You can post news stories (links and snippets) that you find interesting, post questions, add commentary to issues of the day…basically anything you want. This is your network. We’re a self-moderated community.

There is only one rule: As Wil Wheaton says, don’t be a dick. Now, come on in. Enjoy the conversation. Let’s talk news.

Getting Started
Once you sign up, you’ll first have to create an individual page (it takes 5 seconds, no worries. This isn’t MySpace). Next, go to the home page. Either click on a discussion forum with an interesting title or start your own by clicking the +Start Discussion icon in the middle.

Archives
To see the collection of prior postings, simple click on the Forum button along the top of the page.

Unsubscribe
Just remove yourself from the list on your personal page.

Now What
You’re set up. It’s that simple. Remember, we are the discussion we’ve been waiting for.
